 Introductory Course in Encaustic Technique

22-23 September, 2018

6-7 October, 2018

5-6 January, 2019

Cost $260 (All art materials and equipment is included) 10am-4pm  both days.
A fun two day beginners course that covers topics from  equipment needs, safety in the studio, how to make medium, the qualities of different types of waxes, fusing techniques, and introduce a number of basic techniques for how to apply encaustic paint and build up a surface. Lots of one on one assisstance and time for experimentation.

Further Explorations in Encaustic Technique

13-14 October 1, 2018

12-13 January, 2019

Cost $260 (All art materials and equipment is included) 10am-4pm all days. In this 2 day workshop students will continue to do exercises that will help them develop their visual vocabulary with an emphasis on fusing, mark making, collage and texture, as well as exploring techniques to create translucency and depth. We will examine some of the challenges of  working larger in hot wax. There will be lots of one on one instruction to help students with their own particular needs.
**This course requires some experience with encaustic painting or the introductory class.

2019: January 9, 16, 19, 20

Cost $80 per day  (all materials supplied except panels)

**Book three or more days and get $10 off per day

Do you want to do encaustic painting but haven’t got a studio set up yet? Come do your own work in my fully supplied studio. Do you need some guidance? I will be there for assistance and feedback when needed.  Max. 4 participants per day.

Bring your own panel or buy from me at cost –  a limited choice of panels.

**This course requires some experience with encaustic painting or the introductory class.

Classes will be held at my studio on Salt Spring Island

Bring your own lunch. Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided.

Please wear old comfortable clothing and shoes.

Payment policy: Payment is due two weeks before workshop date. Cancellations are fully refunded up to two weeks before workshop date. Any cancellations after the deadline are 100% refunded if there is a waiting list and the place can be filled. Otherwise the money is not refunded but the student has the choice to use it as credit towards another workshop.
