These small works are basically recycled pieces of art. I have torn up old collage paintings that didn’t come together as a whole but had exciting elements within, and used them as a background. The foreground is made up of cut up watercolour images of children, birds and fruit. These images were all from watercolour sketches I had explored to illustrate some poems for children. I enjoy the tension and mystery created by the contrast of the large scale foreboding background and the simple almost cartoon like watercolour elements.
